Catching Up
Well, it’s almost June, but I need to back-track a little and send out a huge THANK YOU to all the people that make Shuttlebirds and Camp Wannatat happen. Â Both events were amazing as always. Â I had a great time teaching at Shuttlebirds and learned a lot as always at Wannatat. Â Patti and Tess… special thanks to the two of you for making these events happen every year. Â I can’t wait for the next Wannatat in October and Shuttlebirds next April.
In tatting news, I’ve got a lot to get caught up on. Â This last week I’ve been really focused on coming up with new variations on the X’s and O’s pattern I taught at Shuttlebirds. Â I learn the basic pattern from Janie Wannatata a few years ago and she threw out the idea of linking up multiple rows of it. Â Well, here’s my latest variation on that. Â In this version I’ve staggered the weave so that this checkerboard look comes out in the pattern. Â It’s been a lot of fun to experiment with, but it’s a very dense pattern so it’s very slow going as well. Â I’ve just started another version of this with beads. Â I’ll show a picture of that once I get a little further along on it.

This is fabulous ! The ‘X’ & ‘O’ come across clearly . Makes a great fabric 🙂
It looks like multiple rows of Jane McLellan’s Interlocked Chains that she used for her choker & bracelet pattern.

Yup! That’s exactly what it is. I am only interlocking the second layer because I’m too lazy to work with 4 shuttles at once, but it seems strong enough as is. I’ve really been enjoying the pattern.
