A Perfect Combination."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.snapdragonlace.com\/?attachment_id=958\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-958\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-958\" style=\"margin: 10px;\" title=\"Experimenting in Yarn\" src=\"http:\/\/www.snapdragonlace.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/Experimenting-in-Yarn-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"303\" height=\"227\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.snapdragonlace.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/Experimenting-in-Yarn-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.snapdragonlace.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/Experimenting-in-Yarn-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.snapdragonlace.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/Experimenting-in-Yarn-96x72.jpg 96w, https:\/\/www.snapdragonlace.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/Experimenting-in-Yarn-31x23.jpg 31w, https:\/\/www.snapdragonlace.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/Experimenting-in-Yarn-38x28.jpg 38w, https:\/\/www.snapdragonlace.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/Experimenting-in-Yarn-286x215.jpg 286w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 303px) 100vw, 303px\" \/><\/a>One of the things I like about this pattern is that it&#8217;s mostly chains.\u00c2\u00a0 I figured this would work well for tatting with yarn because it&#8217;s means you mostly work off the ball and don&#8217;t need as much on the shuttle.\u00c2\u00a0 Also there are no rings to close or to open if you have to retro-tat.\u00c2\u00a0 It went pretty smoothly and I pretty happy with the pattern so far.<\/p>\n<p>This first little motif is just the center and I plan to just put a jump ring on it and call it a necklace pendant.\u00c2\u00a0 The next step is to tat it again in the final yarn and to add the second round.\u00c2\u00a0 The finished piece will be a large motif that will be the focal piece of a belt in yarn.\u00c2\u00a0 I got this thread specifically to match a semi-new knit dress.\u00c2\u00a0 The dress came with a thin little belt, but I wanted something that would stand out more and I think this will do the trick nicely.\u00c2\u00a0 So next up, I tat this center part again and add the next round.<\/p>\n<p>I tried using one of the new wooden shuttles I bought at Shuttlebirds.\u00c2\u00a0 This is the first time I&#8217;ve ever felt the need for a shuttle winder.\u00c2\u00a0 I know they make winding faster, but I&#8217;ve never really minded winding my shuttles, but winding the yarn on the wooden shuttle seemed to pull the yarn pretty significantly.\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s such a nice tight shuttle I couldn&#8217;t figure out a way to wind it without pulling on the yarn and so it&#8217;s wound on the shuttle under some stress.\u00c2\u00a0 I didn&#8217;t notice this so much with the Tatsy shuttle.
